Submissions
I’d love to read and share your writing! Here are the guidelines:
The Journal is currently open for submissions/invitations indefinitely. The best time to submit is generally the middle/last week of the month.
Before submitting a piece to the journal, please do the following;
Read the short About page (posted here). If you don’t agree with it, please refrain from submitting:
“We live in a world that sits in darkness and loves the dark more than light. The goal of ASSW, then, is to publish and circulate writing that bleeds bibline and shines of the goodness of Christ. We are a journal that’s consciously Protestant, consciously contra-mundum, and looking forward to that day when the world will be silenced by a heavenly song. While we wait, we’re publishing beautiful writing to inspire, encourage, and build up. Will you join us on this adventure?”
Submission guidelines:
The accepted categories are as follows; Short story, Nonfiction (essay, biographical piece, etc), Poetry, Photography, and Art.
You may submit in multiple categories at once.
All topics are of your own choosing.
Use single, 1.15, or 1.5 line spacing.
Please email your submission as a google doc or Word document to asongtosilencetheworld001@gmail.com.
Along with your piece, please include a short bio about yourself that can be used in the journal, along with links to your blog/social media, if you have one (and would like to share them).
Short story; 400 - 8,000 words. Please refrain from including any overly graphic scenes or language. No or minimal magic, no good witches, wizards, etc. (1 Sam. 15:23). No fanfiction accepted.
Poetry; 3 - 20 stanzas.
Nonfiction; 500 - 1000 words. If you are writing about current events or hot topics, please handle them with care and thoughtfulness.
Photography; up to five photos. Nothing gory, highly graphic, explicit/immodest. You may include short descriptions of the photos if you’d like. No crosses, images of Jesus, etc. (Ex. 20:4)
Art: up to five pieces. No 3D media. Nothing gory, highly graphic, explicit/immodest. You may include brief descriptions of artwork. No crosses, images of Jesus, etc. (Ex. 20:4)
